Gilliard is a graduate of the University of Maryland, School of
Law . Gilliard has studied abroad in London, Mexico and attended
Law School at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and the University of the West Indies,
Barbados, WI . During studies in Scotland and Barbados,
Gilliard researched Immigration, migration and Human rights
violations. Before starting her practice, Gilliard worked for
various immigration firms and interned for the Executive Office of
Immigration Review-Immigration Court drafting opinions and
responding to motions. Gilliard is a member of legal and
professional Associations and organizations e.g. American
Immigration Lawyers Association ( AILA
) and the AILA New York and Carolina Chapters, American Bar Association (ABA), New
Jersey Bar Association, and the South Carolina Bar Association
The
Attorney has been featured on Monday mornings as a guest speaker on
980. AM El Sol , Charleston's Latino Radio Station, providing free
immigration information to the Hispanic community. The
Attorney also provides free (Bilingual) seminars for the entire
immigrant community during her Free Immigration Seminar
Series. The Attorney in collaboration with local churches in
South Carolina is in the process of creating an immigration clinic
for the low-income population in need of inexpensive immigration
legal assistance. Gilliard is fluent in Spanish
and
understands Portuguese.
